Fish & Chips

Shopping

Poutine

  4. Hello Kat,

I live in Montreal (for 17 years now), but still haven't try poutine :-( I know it's extremely high in calories. Where would you

recommend? Will and Kate are here till 10 tonight before they head to Quebec City by Canadian Navy up the St. Lawrence River. Have

    fun in Vancouver!

  5. My apartment is on L'Esplanade and Mont Royal, a very convenient location to get around town. Since I work at McGill, it only takes

me 15 mins. walk one way. Before I moved to this apartment, I lived in La Cite for 4 years.

I think La Priterie in Complexe Desjardins is still around. It's too hot and humid here to cook anything at home. Since I need to pick

up some grocery in Chinatown tomorrow, maybe I'll swing by La Priterie to check on the poutine LOL.

You posted your students' log cabin quilts a few posts back. Very envious of them that they can take classes with you. I still love

yours in Dandelion Girl the most. Maybe it's because it's made out of Fig Tree fabric? I am still hoarding 5 layer cakes and some

yardages of DG. I vow to make this quilt one day! Is the pattern included in your new book?

  7. La Priterie doesn't exist anymore, at least not in Complexe Desjardins! I checked the directory, and it's not there :-(. So I had

    lunch in Chinatown instead.

La Maison de Calico had closed it's door last May. It's now a pub at the same location. Loved their Tearoom which served

homemade soups and pies. I usually buy my 'precut' fabric online, make the top, then hop to La Maison de Calico or Quilte

Classique for the border and binding. Now I buy fabric from vendors at quilt shows or simply order in advance, and ask them to

bring to the shows. I attended the Beaconsfield quilt guild and Ottawa shows this Spring and bought enough to keep me busy for

some time! Quilting is a very rewarding but at the same time, relatively expensive hobby. Some friends of mine can't understand

the 'logic' of cutting up good pieces of fabric and sewing them back together again LOL. And not to mention how much time each

    finished product takes!
